A/N: Well, here it is - the final bit of holiday fic for ya’ll. My apologies for the tardiness of this post, but my dear husband had accidentally deleted the third chapter right as I was editing it, so I had to rewrite it from scratch. This chapter has grown so large that it is posted in two parts, linked below.
To recap a few essentials of plot:
Jack has a younger sister named Saraswati who goes by the name of ‘Sara’, and she runs a spice bazaar at Shipwreck Cove. They were both born in Cochin, India.
Thing the second: Sara has a 10 year old son named “Rajeev.”
Thing the third: Jack and Lizzie have been living together platonically for some months. The rest will become clear as KotS unfolds.
In terms of this story, I’ve based my inspiration for each chapter on the various gifts of the Magi and their metaphorical meanings. Therefore: gold symbolizes virtue, frankincense symbolizes prayer, and myrrh symbolizes suffering.
Series tie-in: A standalone vignette set in the Kingdoms of the Swan universe.
Installment: 3/3
Segment Title: “Myrrh for the King”
Timeframe: Post AWE
Pairing: J/E, shades of W/E
Rating: R for strong language and heavy sexual innuendo
Word Count: 8,712 (total)
Disclaimer: No copyright infringement is intended. All rights belong to Disney, etc.
Summary: It’s the gift that keeps on giving: this chapter touches on “Myrrh” – a symbol of suffering. The Sparrow family gets a reunion; Lizzie gets a lecture, and the tidal force connecting Jack and Lizzie ebbs and flows.
Acknowledgements: Many, many thanks to [info]djarum99  for her skillful beta and for all of her continuing encouragement and support (and for icon goodness and fabulous prezzies)! She is really the best. J Any remaining errors are mine.
Feedback is fabulous!

Hello, all of my fabulous flisters! Your mission today, should you choose to take it, is to help me find a story that's good enough to share with my brilliant, but POTC uninitiated, friend.

Basically, my best friend would like to start reading my fanfic, and has asked for me to recommend a story, but I find myself at a loss. I am rather frightfully displeased with all of my work, as I've gone back to read through my stories and can't seem to make it past the places that are begging for refinement,

At a bit of a loss, really.

So I was hoping to get a bit of help. What story of mine do you like best? Which story should I share with her to reel her in?

Above all, which features the best writing?

Vote below. ;)

P.S. The final chapters of my holiday story are off for beta. As my darling husband accidentally deleted the original third chapter mid-edit, I've had to go back and rewrite the thing. One chapter turned to two, so you'll have a bit more to munch on. :) Stay tuned.

So, I am so excited, I just have to share this with everyone.  If you've followed my work at all, you probably have some idea that in my various universes, I always write Jack as being half-Indian, having once been named 'Jahangir Ranjit Pakshi', and as having a sister, Saraswati.

And so I've written and written with these two living in my head, never imagining that I'd ever get to actually see them but in my mind's eye, you know?

Well, that all changed today when[info]fried_flamingo, artist and writer extraordinaire, gifted me with this gorgeous manip of Johnny Depp and Aishwarya Rai as young siblings Ranjit and Saraswati.

Check it out.

I am full of squee and happiness, I don't know what to do with myself.

A/N: Ok ya’ll, here’s part two as promised, with three well in the works. Once again, this baby is a bit rough around the edges, but hey, at least it’s here, right? This story is a vignette that can stand alone if need be, but I’ve envisioned it as a story existing a little ways into the future of my “Kingdoms of the Swan” (KotS) universe – so, sadly but truthfully, it’ll probably make even better sense once I’ve written another, oh, 15,000 words or so. That being said, it will be helpful for you to know a couple of things about said universe.

Thing the first: Jack has a younger sister named Saraswati who goes by the name of ‘Sara’ and runs a spice bazaar at Shipwreck Cove. They were both born in Cochin, India. If you feel like you recognize Sara’s character, you probably do, as another version of her figured prominently in my unfinished story “Sailing in Samsara.” However, the Sara of that fic is far different from the Sara detailed here, her divergent personality the product of the whims of another AU universe.

Thing the second: Sara has a 10 year old son named “Rajeev.”

Thing the third: Jack and Lizzie have been living together platonically for some months. The rest will become clear as KotS unfolds.

In terms of this story, I wanted to take the symbolism of the Magi’s gifts and turn them a bit on their heads. Therefore: gold symbolizes virtue, frankincense symbolizes prayer, and myrrh symbolizes suffering.

Series tie-in: A standalone vignette set in the Kingdoms of the Swan universe.
Installment: 2/3
Segment Title: “Frankincense for the King”
Timeframe: Post AWE
Pairing: J/E, shades of W/E
Rating: R - for language and some sizzle
Word Count: 4,780
Disclaimer: No copyright infringement is intended. All rights belong to Disney, etc.
Summary: It’s the gift that keeps on giving: this chapter touches on “Frankincense” – a symbol of prayer. Jack makes a transformation, Lizzie makes a journey, and Christmas dinner swings into gear.
Acknowledgements: Many, many thanks to [info]djarum99   for her skillful beta and for all of her encouragement and support! All remaining mistakes are mine – the product of lazy fingers and eyes.

Updated to my fic list.

Feedback is fabulous!

Snagged this gem from  [info]penknifeand [info]erinya, though God knows I'm not half as prolific as those two. Hat's off to ya, ladies.

A/N: Ok guys, first off, this little beast is not beta’d, as it’s Christmas Eve and God knows no one would want to spent their evening editing. Please forgive typos and a certain lack of my usual syntactic flare, as I plunked this baby out, literally, in four hours at the office. It is also important to note that this story exists within my post-AWE universe, currently unfolding in “Kingdoms of the Swan” (KotS), but it can be taken as a standalone – which it is, of a sort. I’ve chosen to play with the idea of the Magi a bit, thinking of their Eastern roots and exotic gifts as I write. As far as their gifts are concerned, I’ve quite taken to the metaphorical and symbolic meanings of the items: gold symbolizes virtue in many cultures (and it’s a kind of a pirate thing as well, innit?), frankincense symbolize prayer, and myrrh symbolizes suffering.

Series tie-in: A standalone vignette set in the Kingdoms of the Swan universe.
Installment: 1/3
Segment Title: “Gold for the King”
Timeframe: Post AWE
Pairing: J/E, shades of W/E
Rating: PG-13 for language and some small innuendo. Future chapters will progress in rating.
Word Count: 4,463
Disclaimer: No copyright infringement is intended. All rights belong to Disney, etc.
Summary: Elizabeth has taken up residence on an island very near to Shipwreck Cove. Jack has come to live with her, platonically, through a series of circumstances to be revealed in KotS. This chapter touches on “Gold” – a piratical sort of symbol for virtue.

In a sad and perhaps-futile attempt to prevent myself from turning Chapter 3 of "Kingdoms of the Swan" into song!fic, I give you my mental sountrack - and a promise to post C.3 this weekend (or damn close to it).

All apologies for the video quality. I haven't actually watched the vids, as I just open them up at work to listen.....
